Take the plunge and support our fishermen!
From 7 to 14 October 2025, with your help, we’ll be making waves across the UK and Channel Islands with a week of fundraising dips - culminating in the Fishermen’s Mission National Support Day on Tuesday 14 October.
The Fishermen’s Mission is the only charity that provides emergency support and practical help to UK fishermen and their families. Fishing remains one of the most dangerous and demanding jobs in the world, and your support helps us be there when it matters most.
Three ways to support...
1. Set up your own Big Dip fundraiser
We’re calling for fundraisers for individual and group challenges! Go solo, or gather your friends, colleagues, or club for a cold-water dip.
- Choose your challenge – a distance trial, a sunrise swim, a team fancy dress paddle …. creativity is welcomed!
- Click one of the links below to set up your fundraising page
- Raise funds to support fishermen and their families during tough times.
The aim is for challenges to take place during the week of 7 to 14 October, but this Enthuse appeal page will be open from now until the end of October.

2. Show us your #DipPics for a chance to win!
We’re offering entrants the chance to win £250 vouchers for cold-water swimming gear and accessories. To enter, you’ll need to upload a cold-water dipping photo to our Facebook page or Instagram. Photos can be recent or from past dips. Any body of water counts: the sea, a lake, even a paddling pool!
We’ll choose our two favourite images, and those entrants will each win a £250 swimming gear / swimwear voucher thanks to our amazing partners Wild Moose and Made of Water.
Phone snaps are very welcome. We love a photo that makes us smile!

- Open to UK residents aged 18+
- Entries close at 11:59pm on 14 October 2025
The competition is free to enter, but we’d love it if you’d consider donating £10 to the Big Dip appeal (or whatever you can afford). Everyone who donates £10 or more will receive a Big Dip wristband as a thank you (whilst stocks last).
By submitting an entry you are confirming that you agree to the Rules and Entry Information.
3. Donate
We’re also welcoming general donations from people and businesses who aren’t able to dip. Every little helps for this very worthwhile cause.

Participants take part in the Big Dip at their own risk. The Fishermen’s Mission accepts no responsibility or liability for any injury, loss, or harm incurred while taking part in a dip or related activity.
Swim Safe
Before entering the water, please read the HM Coastguard’s sea safety advice and the Swim England Water Safety Code. Always swim with others, check local conditions, and know your limits.
